Part of my time at The Lo &amp; Behold Group, I was tasked to relook at the brand’s current identity and give it a refresh as part of the launch of their new flagship over at Beach Road. Diversity and vibrancy drives the core of the brand, influenced by the components that makes up a fragrant plate of Nasi Lemak—hot, crispy fried chicken; fluffy coconut rice; crunchy anchovies and nuts; spicy sambal then topped with a perfectly runny sunny-side up. Focusing on the kampong&nbsp;(community) spirit in Southeast Asia and the roots of the Straits heritage, the refreshed Coconut Club is loud and proud, casual and comfortable.&nbsp; Branding, Packaging, Illustration, Art Direction. The scribbling effect is referenced from Ikat, a print technique commonly found in Southeast Asia. Ikat means ‘to bind’ in Indonesia, which sits perfect with the kampong spirit in The Coconut Club. These scribbling texture runs from textures to illustration—a unique and recognisable graphic set that The Coconut Club can own.&nbsp; Colour plays an important role in the brand universe as they communicate the different depths of richness in the cuisine, the people and their stories. Each series invites a group of artists to create works revolving around a theme. As the name suggests, the format of the exhibition borrows the idea of a ‘conference’, where artists not only present their works but also gain critical and honest feedback from invited panelists and public. Exploring the idea of exchanges and interactions, this visual identity embraces a more liberated approach—breaking away from the formalities conventionally tied to ‘conferences.’ Representing the engagement between people and the exchange of ideas, a striking pattern formed by lines is created. To establish a distinction between series, the number is integrated into the pattern through the use of contrasting colors. Providing opportunities for children to get in touch with arts from a young age, the classes are mostly tailored to kids from aged 4–16. ‘Permission to Play’ is an exhibition hosted by the academy to showcase and celebrate works created by the students throughout the year. Working closely with the founder (and principal) of Pure ArtLab, I’ve been commissioned to design the exhibition's identity and collateral materials.Not bound by any rules or constraints, I’ve developed the identity of the exhibition that encompassed the theme of the exhibition—playful, joyful and carefree. The project uncovers topic on love, loss and lives of spices in the community. Working closely with artist Susanna Tan, a series of gradients inspired by recipes of heritage food was created. The gradients supported and blurred the flow of pigments and spices used in art and food. The approach was crafted with subtle imperfections, to reflect vulnerability and retain the honesty in the topic. Sun https://ednasun.com/Concept-88 Think inside the box Part of the INBETWEEN programme by Comma Space—‘Concept88’ is an experimental exhibition that sets out like a play without a tight curatorial framework such as theme, contemporary relevance or popularity. Only restricted by the dimension 88cm*88cm*88cm, artists are free to created artwork of any theme relevant to their practice or experiences within this space.&nbsp; Tasked to create an exhibition identity for this project, I utilized basic shapes to create the silhouette of number ‘88’. Hard lines of the shape symbolises the rule of confining artworks to the dimension, whereas the softness in the shapes symbolises the creativity expression behind the artwork—an energy that is soft, honest and human. A visual identity was created for the exhibition and was applied across multiple collaterals for outreach and engagement. This exhibition explores the relationship between artistsand their artistic fellows. Personal, revealing and meaningful stories encapsulate the reason behind each collection. The identity was inspired by the idea of different artists coming together to share their piece with the public. The design conceptualisation mirrors the unique spirit and harmony of the community.The logotype is constructed with 3 different typeface to represent a diversified community. exhibition presented by NTU Museum that features selected artworks from the NIE and NTU permanent art collections embedded with a fictional narrative. Presented through a fictional narrative, the exhibition creates a voyage for visitors as the evolution of Singapore iconic locales — Singapore River and Singapore Botanic Gardens is being revealed. The main identity features an artwork that represents the Singapore River ‘Sites’ and another representing Singapore Botanic Gardens ‘Nature’.&nbsp; Using an image treatment that gives a nod to the past and pairing with a classic san-serif, it sets the tone of the exhibition identity to balance&nbsp; tradition and modernity—showcasing the rich heritage of the sites along with the progressive development over the years. Inspired by RJ Paper’s craft of their business, a calendar that focus on the meta-quality of paper stock was conceived. Through conventional, non-conventional rules and characteristics, paper is expressed as details of embossing, perforation, A-series sized paper tear-aways and a platform to house an atypical calendar. Interpreting the day-telling function of a calendar in a poignant sense, the calendar hints a message on time and relativity. Each month sees a unique diagram, slowing one down for understanding and offers a different measure of day, time and experience of 2018. PrintWorked with creative agency Bureau.
