“Eating the rainbow” is commonly used by dieticians as a mantra to ensure a well-balanced diet made up of fruits and vegetables. In the case of artificial colouring in food like rainbow cake, paddle pop and donut sprinkles, “eat the rainbow” turns into an irony of the original well intended mantra. As coloring does not add to the taste, one begins to wonder if we consume for flavour or aesthetic. Shot by Ryan Loh.
